Vilcabamba (Ecuador) - Week 42

2nd - 5th July

After 7 hours on the bus back to Trujillo, 6 hours overnight to Piura, 8 hours across the (very chilled) border crossing into Ecuador to Loja and 1 1/2 hours to Vilcabamba we were delighted to arrive!! And what a spot this is - our first day in Ecuador:

We are staying at 'The Hidden Garden' and it is lovely. The weather is fantastic and although a bit cold, the pool is fab!

On Wednesday, we walked up to the top of town for a perfect view. Vilcabamba is settled in a lovely valley with beautiful countryside all around and the most perfect climate. We are feeling like we are officially on holiday again now so we had a couple of beers and then headed back to the hostel for an afternoon by the pool. Later on we had amazing $6 back massages and then had 1 1/2 hours in the jacuzzi with glasses of wine - could we be any more luxurious?! (And it's not even my birthday yet...!). Everything in Vilcabamba shuts at 8.30pm so we watched some telly and were in bed very early after a long, hard day!!!

Our next day was spent soaking up rays by the pool. Not had any sun for months so we decided to take full advantage. In the evening we did the English backpacker thing and bought vodka to drink while playing cards all night with other backpackers - classy!!

Books we read: Portrait of a Lady by Henry James

hi friends,
thanks for sharing such useful knowledge. Your work is really appreciable & your blog is looking so attractive. If you are looking for a Resort in Latin America that offers you many options of things to do, eating in or out, and paying for your meals separately, you may want a resort that is not all inclusive.
